Wild Edge-9 Days
HIGHLANDS-SKYE-LEWIS&HARRIS

WILD EDGE — 9 DAYS
HIGHLANDS • SKYE • HARRIS & LEWIS
Nine days beyond the familiar — from Edinburgh into the Highlands, across the Isle of Skye and over the sea to the Outer Hebrides.
Wild Edge is for those who want to experience Scotland where it feels raw, remote and wonderfully untamed.
We follow mountain roads through Glencoe, cross the landscapes of Skye and take the ferry west to Harris & Lewis — where white beaches meet turquoise water, ancient stones stand beneath enormous skies and the Atlantic marks the edge of the land.
This journey isn’t about rushing from one attraction to another.
We leave space for the weather, the road and Scotland itself to change the plan.
Nine days. One small group. Highlands, islands and the wild edge of Scotland.
WILD EDGE — 9 NAP
Kilenc nap. Egy kis csapat. Felföld, szigetek és Skócia vad pereme.
PLANNED ITINERARY / TERVEZETT ÚTITERV
DAY 1
Edinburgh → Stirling Castle → Loch Lomond → Tyndrum → Bridge of Orchy → Rannoch Moor → Buachaille Etive Mòr → Meeting of Three Waters → Three Sisters of Glencoe → Loch Achtriochtan → Glencoe Visitor Centre → Glencoe → Fort William
Our Wild Edge journey begins in Edinburgh and heads north towards the Highlands.
Our first major stop is Stirling Castle, where we pause for photographs and our first glimpse into Scotland’s dramatic history before continuing towards Loch Lomond. Along the loch, we take time for selected viewpoints and scenic stops — because from the very beginning, the road itself is part of our journey.
We continue through Tyndrum and Bridge of Orchy before the landscape opens dramatically across Rannoch Moor.
From here, we pass beneath the unmistakable Buachaille Etive Mòr and enter Glencoe, stopping at some of its most spectacular places along the way: the Meeting of Three Waters, the Three Sisters of Glencoe and Loch Achtriochtan.
We also stop at the Glencoe Visitor Centre, where there is time to discover more about the landscape, history and people of this extraordinary glen.
By late afternoon we reach Fort William, where we settle in for our first Highland evening.
1. NAP
Edinburgh → Stirling Castle → Loch Lomond → Tyndrum → Bridge of Orchy → Rannoch Moor → Buachaille Etive Mòr → Meeting of Three Waters → Three Sisters of Glencoe → Loch Achtriochtan → Glencoe Visitor Centre → Glencoe → Fort William
Wild Edge utazásunk Edinburghból indul észak felé, a Felföld irányába.
Innen a jellegzetes Buachaille Etive Mòr mellett érkezünk Glencoe-ba, ahol több különleges helyen is megállunk: a Meeting of Three Watersnél, a Three Sisters of Glencoe-nál és Loch Achtriochtan környékén.
A Glencoe Visitor Centre-nél is időt töltünk, ahol közelebbről megismerhetjük ennek a különleges völgynek a táját, történetét és múltját.
Késő délután érkezünk Fort Williambe, ahol első felföldi esténket töltjük.
DAY 2
Fort William → Glenfinnan Viaduct → Highland scenic stops → Pattack Falls → Laggan Dam → Fort Augustus → Loch Ness → Urquhart Castle → Drumnadrochit
We leave Fort William and head towards one of Scotland’s most recognisable landmarks, the Glenfinnan Viaduct.
Here we take our time. This is not simply a quick photograph before moving on — there is time to walk, look around and experience the landscape surrounding the famous viaduct.
Our journey then continues through the Highlands, with smaller scenic stops along the way, towards Pattack Falls and the impressive Laggan Dam.
Later we reach Fort Augustus at the southern end of Loch Ness before following the legendary loch north. Whenever the landscape gives us a reason to stop, we do.
Our major historical stop of the afternoon is Urquhart Castle. We don’t simply admire its ruins from the road — we go inside and explore the castle overlooking Loch Ness.
We finish our day around Drumnadrochit.
2. NAP
Fort William → Glenfinnan Viaduct → felföldi megállók → Pattack Falls → Laggan Dam → Fort Augustus → Loch Ness → Urquhart Castle → Drumnadrochit
Fort Williamből Skócia egyik legismertebb helyszíne, a Glenfinnan Viaduct felé indulunk.
A napot Drumnadrochit környékén zárjuk.
DAY 3
Drumnadrochit → Loch Ness viewpoints → Invermoriston → Old Bridge of Invermoriston → Loch Cluanie → Cluanie Inn → Glen Shiel → Chocolates of Glenshiel → Five Sisters of Kintail → Loch Duich → Eilean Donan Castle → Kyle of Lochalsh → Skye Bridge → Portree
Today we leave Loch Ness behind and begin our journey towards the Isle of Skye.
We follow the loch towards Invermoriston, stopping at selected viewpoints before visiting the beautiful Old Bridge of Invermoriston.
From here the landscape becomes increasingly wild as we travel west towards Loch Cluanie. We stop around Cluanie for photographs, a coffee and time to enjoy the surrounding mountains before continuing through Glen Shiel.
Along the way we stop around Chocolates of Glenshiel, where a short wander takes us beside the rocky, tumbling river — one of those smaller places that may never make it onto a traditional itinerary but deserves to be experienced.
The mountains of the Five Sisters of Kintail accompany us towards Loch Duich, where one of Scotland’s most iconic sights appears ahead: Eilean Donan Castle.
Here we stop properly and go inside to explore the castle.
We continue through Kyle of Lochalsh, cross the Skye Bridge and finally make our way north through the island to Portree.
3. NAP
Drumnadrochit → Loch Ness kilátópontjai → Invermoriston → Old Bridge of Invermoriston → Loch Cluanie → Cluanie Inn → Glen Shiel → Chocolates of Glenshiel → Five Sisters of Kintail → Loch Duich → Eilean Donan Castle → Kyle of Lochalsh → Skye Bridge → Portree
Ezen a reggelen magunk mögött hagyjuk Loch Nesst, és Skye szigete felé indulunk.
Invermoriston irányába haladunk, útközben a tó kiválasztott kilátópontjainál is megállva, majd megnézzük az Old Bridge of Invermoriston gyönyörű régi kőhídját.
Innen egyre vadabbá válik körülöttünk a táj.
A Five Sisters of Kintail hegyei mellett Loch Duich felé haladunk, ahol egyszer csak feltűnik előttünk Skócia egyik legismertebb látványa: Eilean Donan Castle.
Itt rendesen megállunk, és a kastélyba is bemegyünk.
Kyle of Lochalsh után átkelünk a Skye Bridge-en, majd Skye tájain keresztül Portree felé folytatjuk utunkat.
DAY 4
Portree → The Storr → Kilt Rock & Mealt Falls → An Corran Beach → Staffin → Quiraing → Uig → Rha Waterfalls → Fairy Glen → Portree
Today we explore the extraordinary Trotternish Peninsula in northern Skye.
Our first stop is The Storr, where we take in its unmistakable rock formations from below and from selected viewpoints.
From here we continue to the dramatic sea cliffs of Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls before reaching Staffin and An Corran Beach, where ancient dinosaur footprints have been discovered along the shore.
We then head into the extraordinary landscape of the Quiraing, where ridges, cliffs and strange rock formations create one of Skye’s most unforgettable landscapes.
Our journey continues towards Uig, where we take a short woodland walk to Rha Waterfalls.
Before returning to Portree, we enter the strange little world of the Fairy Glen — rolling green hills, miniature peaks and a landscape that feels as though someone built a tiny version of Scotland.
4. NAP
Portree → The Storr → Kilt Rock & Mealt Falls → An Corran Beach → Staffin → Quiraing → Uig → Rha Waterfalls → Fairy Glen → Portree
DAY 5
Portree → Uig → Ferry to Tarbert → Harris → Luskentyre Beach → Seilebost → Rodel → St Clement’s Church → Golden Road → East Harris → Stornoway
Today we leave Skye behind and cross the sea to the Outer Hebrides.
From Portree we travel to Uig, where we board the ferry for Tarbert on the Isle of Harris. The exact rhythm of the day follows the seasonal ferry timetable — but once we arrive, an entirely different Scotland begins.
We head towards the spectacular west coast of Harris and Luskentyre Beach, where pale sand, turquoise water and distant mountains create a landscape that seems almost impossible to belong to Scotland.
We continue through the Seilebost area before travelling south towards Rodel and historic St Clement’s Church.
Then the landscape changes completely.
We return north along the legendary Golden Road through the rocky eastern side of Harris — a winding road through lochs, bare rock and tiny settlements where the journey itself becomes one of the day’s greatest experiences.
We continue north towards Lewis and finish our day in Stornoway.
5. NAP
Portree → Uig → komp Tarbertbe → Harris → Luskentyre Beach → Seilebost → Rodel → St Clement’s Church → Golden Road → East Harris → Stornoway
Ezután teljesen megváltozik körülöttünk a világ.
A legendás Golden Roadon indulunk vissza észak felé Harris sziklás keleti oldalán.
DAY 6
Stornoway → Port of Ness → Eoropie Beach → Butt of Lewis → Atlantic viewpoints → Gearrannan Blackhouse Village → West Lewis → Stornoway
Today we head towards the northern edge of Lewis — and towards what can genuinely feel like the edge of the world.
From Stornoway we travel north to Port of Ness, with its coastal scenery, beach and viewpoints, before exploring nearby Eoropie Beach.
Then we continue to the Butt of Lewis, where the Atlantic meets the northern tip of the island in a landscape of cliffs, wind and open ocean.
From here we begin travelling south along Lewis, stopping at viewpoints and smaller places along the Atlantic side of the island.
One of our major stops is Gearrannan Blackhouse Village, where traditional stone blackhouses offer a glimpse into the life and history of the Outer Hebrides.
Rather than rushing towards the ferry, we return to Stornoway and spend another night on Lewis.
6. NAP
Stornoway → Port of Ness → Eoropie Beach → Butt of Lewis → atlanti kilátópontok → Gearrannan Blackhouse Village → West Lewis → Stornoway
Ezen a napon Lewis északi része felé indulunk — egy olyan vidékre, ahol néha tényleg úgy érezhetjük, mintha elértük volna a világ végét.
Stornowayből Port of Ness felé haladunk, ahol a tengerpart, a beach és a kilátópontok után a közeli Eoropie Beachet is felfedezzük.
Innen továbbindulunk a Butt of Lewishoz, ahol a sziget északi csücskén a sziklák, a szél és a nyílt Atlanti-óceán uralja a tájat.
Ezután Lewis nyugati oldalán kezdünk dél felé haladni, útközben kilátópontoknál és kisebb, különleges helyeken is megállva.
A nap egyik fontos állomása Gearrannan Blackhouse Village, ahol a hagyományos kőből épült blackhouse-ok a Külső-Hebridák egykori életébe engednek bepillantást.
DAY 7
Stornoway → Callanish Standing Stones → Dun Carloway Broch → West Lewis → Harris → Hushinish Beach → Harris viewpoints → Tarbert
Today we travel deeper into the history and wild landscapes of Lewis and Harris.
Our first major stop is the Callanish Standing Stones — one of the most extraordinary prehistoric sites in Scotland, standing in the Hebridean landscape for thousands of years.
From here we continue towards Dun Carloway Broch, an ancient stone structure overlooking the landscape of western Lewis.
Then we turn south again, following the changing scenery from Lewis back towards Harris.
Our destination is Hushinish Beach, hidden at the end of a spectacular single-track road. The journey there is part of the experience: mountains, lochs, empty landscapes and sudden glimpses of the Atlantic accompany us towards one of Harris’s more remote beaches.
We then make our way back through Harris, stopping at selected viewpoints before ending the day around Tarbert.
7. NAP
Stornoway → Callanish Standing Stones → Dun Carloway Broch → West Lewis → Harris → Hushinish Beach → Harris kilátópontjai → Tarbert
Első nagy megállónk a Callanish Standing Stones, Skócia egyik legkülönlegesebb őskori helyszíne, amelynek kövei évezredek óta állnak a hebridai tájban.
DAY 8
Tarbert → Harris → Ferry to Uig → Uig → Isle of Skye viewpoints → Portree
Today we say goodbye to the Outer Hebrides — but we deliberately keep the day flexible.
Depending on the seasonal ferry schedule, there may be time for one last Harris viewpoint, a coastal stop or simply a quiet morning surrounded by island scenery before we return to Tarbert.
From Tarbert we take the ferry back across the Minch to Uig on the Isle of Skye.
Once back on Skye, we don’t simply race towards our accommodation. If daylight, weather and ferry timings allow, we make use of the island’s viewpoints and smaller roadside stops on our way back towards Portree.
After several days on Lewis and Harris, Portree welcomes us back for our final island evening.
8. NAP
Tarbert → Harris → komp Uigba → Uig → Skye kilátópontjai → Portree
Innen komppal kelünk át a Minchen Uigba, Skye szigetére.
DAY 9
Portree → Skye Bridge → Kyle of Lochalsh → Loch Duich → Glen Shiel → Highland viewpoints → Fort William → Glencoe → Rannoch Moor → Bridge of Orchy → Tyndrum → Kilmahog → Edinburgh
Our final day begins in Portree as we leave Skye behind and begin the long journey south.
After crossing the Skye Bridge, we travel through Kyle of Lochalsh and once again follow the spectacular landscapes around Loch Duich and Glen Shiel.
But this is not simply a transfer day.
The Highlands still have plenty to show us, and we stop at selected viewpoints whenever time, weather and the landscape allow.
Later we reach Fort William, where there is time for something to eat, a walk and some final Highland souvenir shopping.
From here we continue through Glencoe, across the vast landscape of Rannoch Moor and onwards through Bridge of Orchy and Tyndrum.
At Kilmahog we make one final distinctly Scottish stop — the Highland coos.
Then we continue towards Edinburgh.
Nine days after leaving the city, we return with Skye, Lewis, Harris, Highland glens, Atlantic beaches, castles, ancient stones and countless miles of wild Scotland behind us.
This is where our Wild Edge journey comes to an end.
Not just Scotland’s famous places.
The roads beyond them. The islands beyond them. The Wild Edge.
9. NAP
Portree → Skye Bridge → Kyle of Lochalsh → Loch Duich → Glen Shiel → felföldi kilátópontok → Fort William → Glencoe → Rannoch Moor → Bridge of Orchy → Tyndrum → Kilmahog → Edinburgh
Itt ér véget a Wild Edge utazásunk.
Nemcsak Skócia híres helyei.
Hanem az utak rajtuk túl. A szigetek rajtuk túl. A Wild Edge.
PLEASE NOTE
This is a planned itinerary. The route, daily schedule and order of activities may change due to weather, ferry operations, road conditions, closures, traffic, accidents or other circumstances beyond our control. We may adapt the journey when necessary to keep it safe, practical and enjoyable.
