Ten days into some of Scotland’s most remote and extraordinary landscapes — from the Highlands and the far north to Orkney, the Outer Hebrides and the Isle of Skye.

Ultimate Island Journey is our journey for those who want to go further.

We cross seas, follow the wild roads of Scotland’s northern coast, walk among prehistoric stones older than the pyramids, discover remote island communities and stand on Atlantic beaches where the landscape seems to stretch forever.

This is Scotland on a different scale.

Ancient. Remote. Wild.

Ten days. Three island worlds. One ultimate Scottish journey.

Tíz nap Skócia legtávolabbi és legkülönlegesebb tájain — a Felföldtől és a messzi északi partoktól Orkney-n és a Külső-Hebridákon át egészen Skye szigetéig.

Az Ultimate Island Journey azoknak szól, akik messzebbre akarnak menni.

Tengereken kelünk át, Skócia vad északi partvidékének útjait követjük, a piramisoknál is régebbi őskori kövek között járunk, távoli szigeti közösségeket fedezünk fel, és olyan atlanti partokon állunk meg, ahol a táj szinte végtelennek tűnik.

Ez Skócia egy egészen más léptékben.

Ősi. Távoli. Vad.

Tíz nap. Három szigetvilág. Egy páratlan skóciai utazás.

ULTIMATE ISLAND JOURNEY

EXTENDED LIMITED SEASONAL JOURNEY

Ultimate Island Journey takes us even deeper into Scotland. Over ten days, the journey brings together the Highlands, the North Coast, Orkney, Lewis & Harris and Skye — long distances, remote landscapes, ferry crossings and some of Scotland’s wildest corners.

It runs only on carefully selected dates when daylight and seasonal connections give us the best opportunity to experience the route as it was meant to be experienced: with room for the unexpected, rather than rushing from one place to the next.

A Buachaille Etive Mòr jelzi, hogy közeledünk Glencoe-hoz, majd következik a Meeting of Three Waters, a Three Sisters és a Loch Achtriochtan. Miután időt töltöttünk Skócia egyik legdrámaibb völgyében, Fort William felé folytatjuk az utat, ahol az első éjszakát töltjük.

DAY 2

Fort William → Fort Augustus → Loch Ness → Urquhart Castle → Drumnadrochit → Inverness → Dornoch Firth → Dunrobin Castle → East Coast → Caithness → Scrabster → Ferry to Stromness → Orkney → Kirkwall

Leaving Fort William, we travel through the Great Glen towards Fort Augustus and the legendary waters of Loch Ness. We follow the loch north, stopping at viewpoints along the way before visiting the ruins of Urquhart Castle. From Drumnadrochit we continue through Inverness and turn north along Scotland’s east coast, where the landscape gradually changes as we travel past the Dornoch Firth and towards Dunrobin Castle. Continuing through the far north and Caithness, we reach Scrabster and board the ferry across the Pentland Firth to Stromness. Our first evening in Orkney ends around Kirkwall.

Fort Williamből a Great Glen mentén Fort Augustus és a legendás Loch Ness felé indulunk. Caithness vad északi vidékén keresztül Scrabsterbe érkezünk, ahonnan komppal kelünk át a Pentland Firth vizén Stromnessbe. Első orkney-i esténket Kirkwall környékén zárjuk.

DAY 3 — ORKNEY: THE ANCIENT WEST

Kirkwall → Skara Brae → Skaill House → Bay of Skaill → Yesnaby Cliffs → Birsay → Ring of Brodgar → Standing Stones of Stenness → Maeshowe → Kirkwall

Today belongs entirely to Orkney. We explore the ancient landscapes of the western Mainland, beginning around Skara Brae and the windswept Bay of Skaill before travelling towards the dramatic cliffs of Yesnaby and the coast around Birsay. Later, we enter the extraordinary prehistoric heart of Orkney: the Ring of Brodgar, the Standing Stones of Stenness and the landscape surrounding Maeshowe. Thousands of years of human history sit within a landscape shaped by sea, stone and relentless northern weather. We return to Kirkwall for the evening.

Később Orkney különleges őskori világának szívébe érkezünk: a Ring of Brodgar, a Standing Stones of Stenness és Maeshowe környékére.

DAY 4 — ORKNEY: ISLANDS, SEA & SCAPA FLOW

Kirkwall → Scapa Flow → Churchill Barriers → Lamb Holm → Italian Chapel → Burray → South Ronaldsay → Orkney coastal viewpoints → Kirkwall

Our second full day in Orkney takes us south from Kirkwall into a very different island landscape. We travel beside Scapa Flow and cross the remarkable Churchill Barriers, built during the Second World War and now connecting a chain of islands by road. On Lamb Holm we visit the tiny Italian Chapel, created by Italian prisoners of war and now one of Orkney’s most remarkable human stories. From here we continue through Burray towards South Ronaldsay, discovering beaches, rocky shores, open sea views and quiet island roads along the way. By evening we return to Kirkwall.

Második teljes orkney-i napunkon Kirkwalltól dél felé indulunk, egy egészen más karakterű szigetvilágba.

DAY 5 — ORKNEY → THE HIGHLANDS → SKYE

Kirkwall → Stromness → Ferry to Scrabster → Caithness → East Coast → Inverness → Loch Cluanie → Glen Shiel → Five Sisters of Kintail → Loch Duich → Kyle of Lochalsh → Skye Bridge → Uig area

We leave Orkney behind and sail from Stromness back across the Pentland Firth to Scrabster. From Scotland’s far north we travel south through Caithness and along the east coast towards Inverness before turning west once again into the Highlands. The landscape changes dramatically around Loch Cluanie and Glen Shiel, with the Five Sisters of Kintail rising above the road as we continue towards Loch Duich. From Kyle of Lochalsh we cross the Skye Bridge and travel north through the Isle of Skye towards the Uig area, positioning ourselves for the next chapter of our island journey.

Búcsút veszünk Orkney-tól, és Stromnessből a Pentland Firth vizén átkelve visszahajózunk Scrabsterbe. Skócia legészakibb vidékéről Caithnessen és a keleti parton keresztül dél felé haladunk Inverness irányába, majd ismét nyugatnak fordulunk a Felföld belsejébe. Loch Cluanie és Glen Shiel környékén látványosan megváltozik a táj, az út fölé pedig a Five Sisters of Kintail hegyei magasodnak, miközben Loch Duich felé haladunk. Kyle of Lochalsh után átkelünk a Skye Bridge-en, majd Skye szigetén észak felé utazunk Uig környékére, felkészülve utazásunk következő szigeti fejezetére.

DAY 6 — SKYE → HARRIS → LEWIS

Uig → Ferry to Tarbert → Harris → Luskentyre Beach → Seilebost → Rodel → St Clement’s Church → Golden Road → East Harris → Stornoway

From Uig we take the ferry across the Minch to Tarbert and arrive on Harris. White sand and turquoise water greet us around Luskentyre and Seilebost before we continue south towards Rodel and historic St Clement’s Church. From here we follow the legendary Golden Road through the rocky lunar-like landscape of East Harris — one of the most distinctive roads in the Outer Hebrides. Later we turn north and continue onto Lewis, reaching Stornoway for the evening.

DAY 7 — THE WILD NORTH OF LEWIS

Stornoway → Port of Ness → Eoropie → Butt of Lewis → Atlantic viewpoints → Gearrannan Blackhouse Village → West Lewis → Callanish Standing Stones → Stornoway

Today we head towards the far north of Lewis. Port of Ness and the coastline around Eoropie lead us towards the Butt of Lewis, where the Atlantic meets one of the most exposed edges of the Outer Hebrides. We then turn south along the western side of the island, stopping at wild Atlantic viewpoints before reaching Gearrannan Blackhouse Village and its traditional stone-and-thatch houses. Later we continue through West Lewis to the ancient Callanish Standing Stones, standing in this landscape for thousands of years. After a full day exploring Lewis, we return to Stornoway for the night.

Ma Lewis legészakibb vidékei felé indulunk. Port of Ness és Eoropie partvidéke vezet bennünket a Butt of Lewis felé, ahol az Atlanti-óceán az Outer Hebrides egyik legkitettebb peremével találkozik. Innen a sziget nyugati oldalán dél felé fordulunk, vad atlanti kilátópontoknál állunk meg, majd elérjük a Gearrannan Blackhouse Village hagyományos kő- és nádfedeles házait. Később West Lewis tájain keresztül a több ezer éve itt álló Callanish Standing Stones ősi kőköreihez érkezünk. A Lewis felfedezésével töltött teljes nap után visszatérünk Stornowayba éjszakára.

DAY 8 — LEWIS & HARRIS → SKYE

Stornoway → Harris → Tarbert → Ferry to Uig → Quiraing → Kilt Rock & Mealt Falls → The Storr viewpoints → Sligachan → Portree

We leave Stornoway and travel south through the changing landscapes of Lewis and Harris towards Tarbert, where the ferry carries us back across the Minch to Skye. Depending on the ferry schedule and conditions, the rest of the day is dedicated to some of northern Skye’s extraordinary landscapes. The Quiraing, Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls, views towards The Storr and the mountains around Sligachan give us a final taste of the island before we reach colourful Portree for the night.

Stornowayból dél felé indulunk Lewis és Harris folyamatosan változó tájain keresztül Tarbert felé, ahonnan komppal kelünk át ismét a Minch vizén Skye szigetére. A komp menetrendjétől és az aznapi körülményektől függően a nap hátralévő részét Skye északi tájainak felfedezésével töltjük. A Quiraing, Kilt Rock és Mealt Falls, a The Storr felé nyíló kilátások és Sligachan hegyvidéki környezete még egyszer megmutatja Skye különleges arcát, mielőtt estére megérkezünk a színes Portree-ba.

DAY 9 — SKYE → THE HIGHLANDS → TYNDRUM

Portree → Skye Bridge → Kyle of Lochalsh → Loch Duich → Eilean Donan Castle → Glen Shiel → Five Sisters of Kintail → Highland viewpoints → Fort William → Glencoe → Rannoch Moor → Bridge of Orchy → Tyndrum

Leaving Portree, we cross the Skye Bridge back to the mainland and follow Loch Duich to Eilean Donan Castle, where we take time to explore one of Scotland’s most iconic castles. From here the road carries us back through Glen Shiel beneath the Five Sisters of Kintail and through the Highlands towards Fort William. There is time for selected stops along the way before we continue through Glencoe, across the vast landscape of Rannoch Moor and past Bridge of Orchy. Our final night on the road is spent around Tyndrum, giving us a relaxed starting point for our last day.

Portree-ból indulva a Skye Bridge-en keresztül visszatérünk a szárazföldre, majd Loch Duich partját követve elérjük Eilean Donan Castle-t, ahol időt szánunk Skócia egyik legismertebb várának felfedezésére. Innen Glen Shielen keresztül, a Five Sisters of Kintail alatt vezet tovább az utunk a Felföldön át Fort William felé. Útközben az idő függvényében válogatott megállókra is jut idő, majd Glencoe-n, Rannoch Moor hatalmas tájain és Bridge of Orchy mellett haladunk tovább. Utolsó útközbeni éjszakánkat Tyndrum környékén töltjük, így másnap nyugodtabban kezdhetjük utazásunk utolsó napját.

DAY 10 — TYNDRUM → EDINBURGH

Tyndrum → Kilmahog → Highland Coos → Callander → Edinburgh Old Town → Edinburgh Castle → Royal Mile → Victoria Street → Greyfriars Bobby → Edinburgh

Our final morning begins in Tyndrum as we travel south towards Kilmahog, with a chance to meet Scotland’s famous Highland coos before continuing through Callander towards Edinburgh. Back in the capital, the final hours of our journey can be spent exploring the Old Town, the Royal Mile, Victoria Street and Greyfriars Bobby, with Edinburgh Castle available depending on time and individual plans. We agree on a meeting place and time before bringing ten unforgettable days across Highlands, islands and seas to an end.

Ten days. Three island worlds. One ultimate Scottish journey.

Not simply Scotland. The Scotland beyond the mainland.
Your Scotland. Your story.

Hanem Skócia a szárazföldön túl.
A te Skóciád. A te történeted.
