Visits to Staffa are seasonal and weather-dependent. Sailings normally operate from March to October, but even during the season they may be cancelled due to sea or weather conditions. If the crossing is not possible, we’ll simply let Scotland rewrite the plan and explore another special place instead. The final decision will always be made on the day, based on the conditions.

Ten days across four of Scotland’s wild islands — from the mountains of Skye and the Atlantic landscapes of Lewis & Harris to the colourful shores of Mull and the extraordinary basalt cliffs of Staffa.
This journey takes us beyond the mainland and into a Scotland shaped by sea, wind, mountains and centuries of island stories.
We cross bridges and seas, follow remote island roads, walk beneath ancient stones and along white beaches, explore castles and coastal villages, and leave enough freedom for the weather — and the islands themselves — to become part of the journey.

FOUR WILD
EXTENDED LIMITED SEASONAL JOURNEY
Four Wild is one of our most extensive Scotland journeys. Over ten days, it connects the Highlands with Skye, Lewis & Harris, Mull and Staffa — routes shaped by ferries, island roads, changing weather and the rhythm of the Atlantic.
For that reason, Four Wild operates only on selected dates during the longer-day season. Fewer departures give us the time and flexibility this journey deserves — without turning Scotland into a race against the clock.
A Four Wild az egyik legátfogóbb skóciai utazásunk. Tíz nap alatt összeköti a Felföldet Skye-jal, Lewis & Harris szigetével, Mull-lal és Staffával — olyan útvonalakon, amelyeket a kompok, a szigeti utak, a változó időjárás és az Atlanti-óceán ritmusa alakít.

PLANNED ITINERARY/ TERVEZETT ÚTITERV
DAY 1 — INTO THE HIGHLANDS
Edinburgh → Stirling → Loch Lomond → Tyndrum → Bridge of Orchy → Rannoch Moor → Buachaille Etive Mòr → Meeting of Three Waters → Three Sisters of Glencoe → Loch Achtriochtan → Glencoe → Fort William
We leave Edinburgh behind and travel towards Loch Lomond, where the landscape begins its transformation into the Highlands. From Tyndrum and Bridge of Orchy, the road carries us across the vast landscape of Rannoch Moor towards Buachaille Etive Mòr. We continue past the Meeting of Three Waters, the Three Sisters and Loch Achtriochtan, taking time to experience the dramatic landscape of Glencoe before reaching Fort William for our first night.

DAY 2 — WESTERN HIGHLANDS TO SKYE
Fort William → Loch Garry → Glen Shiel → Five Sisters of Kintail → Loch Duich → Eilean Donan Castle → Kyle of Lochalsh → Skye Bridge → Sligachan → Portree
From Fort William we travel deeper into the western Highlands, following mountain roads and lochs towards Glen Shiel. The Five Sisters of Kintail rise above the route before Loch Duich and Eilean Donan Castle appear ahead. After time at one of Scotland’s most recognisable castles, we continue through Kyle of Lochalsh and cross the Skye Bridge. Sligachan gives us our first taste of Skye’s mountain landscape before we continue to Portree for the evening.

DAY 3 — THE WILD NORTH OF SKYE
Portree → The Storr → Kilt Rock & Mealt Falls → An Corran Beach → Staffin → Quiraing → Fairy Glen → Uig
Today belongs to northern Skye. We begin with views towards The Storr before following the coast to Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls. Around Staffin and An Corran Beach, the landscape meets the sea before the road climbs towards the extraordinary formations of the Quiraing. Later, Fairy Glen changes the mood completely with its strange miniature landscape. By evening we reach the Uig area, ready for the next morning’s crossing to the Outer Hebrides.
Ez a nap Skye északi részéé. A The Storr felé nyíló kilátásokkal kezdünk, majd a part mentén Kilt Rock és Mealt Falls felé haladunk. Staffin és An Corran Beach környékén a hegyvidéki táj találkozik a tengerrel, majd az út a Quiraing különleges sziklaformációi közé vezet. Később Fairy Glen apró dombjai és furcsa formái egészen más hangulatot teremtenek. Estére Uig környékére érkezünk, készen a másnapi átkelésre a Külső-Hebridák felé.
DAY 4 — HARRIS: ATLANTIC ROADS
Uig → Ferry to Tarbert → Luskentyre Beach → Seilebost → Rodel → St Clement’s Church → Golden Road → East Harris → Stornoway
From Uig we cross the Minch to Tarbert and arrive on Harris. We travel south towards the extraordinary beaches of Luskentyre and Seilebost before continuing to Rodel and St Clement’s Church. From here, the Golden Road winds through the rocky landscapes of East Harris — one of the Outer Hebrides’ most distinctive drives. Later we turn north, cross into Lewis and continue to Stornoway for the night.

DAY 5 — THE WILD NORTH OF LEWIS
Stornoway → Port of Ness → Eoropie → Butt of Lewis → Atlantic Coast → Gearrannan Blackhouse Village → Callanish Standing Stones → Stornoway
We travel north from Stornoway towards Port of Ness, Eoropie and the exposed Atlantic edge of the Butt of Lewis. From here we turn south along Lewis’s western side, where wild coastline and open ocean accompany us towards Gearrannan Blackhouse Village. We continue to the ancient Callanish Standing Stones before returning to Stornoway for our second night on Lewis.

DAY 6 — FROM THE OUTER HEBRIDES TO OBAN

Today is one of the great transition days of Four Wild. We leave Stornoway and travel south through Lewis and Harris to Tarbert, where the ferry carries us back across the Minch to Uig. From Skye we continue south, cross back to the mainland and follow the western Highlands towards Fort William. Loch Linnhe accompanies the final part of our journey south until we reach Oban — gateway to our next island.
Ez a Four Wild egyik nagy átvezető napja. Stornowayból Lewis és Harris tájain keresztül dél felé indulunk Tarbertbe, ahonnan komppal kelünk át a Minch vizén Uigba. Skye-on dél felé haladunk, majd visszatérünk a szárazföldre, és a nyugati Felföldön keresztül Fort William irányába folytatjuk utunkat. DAY 7 — MULL: WILD COASTS & WATERFALLS
Oban → Ferry to Craignure → Mull → Loch na Keal → Gribun → Calgary Bay → Dervaig → Aros Park →
The Oban - Craignure ferry crossing currently takes approximately 45 minutes. Another ferry. Another island. From Craignure we begin exploring Mull’s wild landscapes, travelling towards the shores of Loch na Keal and the dramatic western coastline around Gribun. We continue north towards the white sands of Calgary Bay before following the island roads through Dervaig. Near Tobermory, Aros Park gives us woodland trails, waterfalls and coastal views before we reach the colourful harbour town for the evening.

DAY 8 — STAFFA: WHERE THE ATLANTIC DECIDES
Tobermory → Staffa → Fingal’s Cave → Mull → Tobermory / Craignure → Oban, conditions permitting
Today belongs to the Atlantic. If sea and weather conditions allow, we board a boat for Staffa, where extraordinary basalt columns rise from the ocean and Fingal’s Cave opens into the island’s cliffs. The journey itself is part of the experience, with opportunities to encounter seabirds and marine wildlife along the way. After returning to Mull, the remainder of the day depends on the sea, the ferry schedule and the time available. If practical, we cross back to Oban; otherwise, we spend another night on Mull.
Ezen a napon az Atlanti-óceáné a főszerep. Ha a tenger és az időjárás engedi, hajóra szállunk Staffa felé, ahol különleges bazaltoszlopok emelkednek ki az óceánból, Fingal’s Cave pedig a sziget sziklafalába nyílik. DAY 9 — BACK INTO THE HIGHLANDS
Mull / Oban → Loch Linnhe → Fort William → Glen Nevis → Ben Nevis viewpoints → Glencoe → Rannoch Moor → Bridge of Orchy → Tyndrum
Whether we begin the morning on Mull or in Oban, today brings us back into the Highlands. We travel north beside Loch Linnhe towards Fort William and Glen Nevis, taking time for views towards Ben Nevis and the surrounding mountains. From here we turn south again through Glencoe, across Rannoch Moor and past Bridge of Orchy before reaching Tyndrum. Our final night on the road is spent here, leaving the last day deliberately unhurried.
Akár Mullon, akár Obanban kezdjük a reggelt, ezen a napon visszatérünk a Felföldre. Loch Linnhe mellett észak felé haladunk Fort William és Glen Nevis irányába, ahol időt hagyunk a Ben Nevisre és a környező hegyekre nyíló panorámákra. Innen ismét délnek fordulunk Glencoe-n és Rannoch Mooron keresztül, majd Bridge of Orchy mellett elhaladva Tyndrumba érkezünk. Utolsó útközbeni éjszakánkat itt töltjük, hogy az utolsó napunkat már ne rohanással kezdjük.
Ide tökéletes a Ben Nevis. Nem ígérünk mászást, nem csinálunk belőle külön túrát: Glen Nevis + panoráma + fotó + idő a hegy alatt.
DAY 10 — TYNDRUM → EDINBURGH
Tyndrum → Kilmahog → Highland Coos → Callander → Edinburgh Old Town → Edinburgh Castle → Royal Mile → Victoria Street → Greyfriars Bobby → Edinburgh
Our final morning begins in Tyndrum as we travel south towards Kilmahog, with a chance to meet Scotland’s famous Highland coos before continuing through Callander towards Edinburgh. Back in the capital, the final hours of Four Wild can be spent exploring the Old Town, the Royal Mile, Victoria Street and Greyfriars Bobby, with Edinburgh Castle depending on time and individual plans. We agree on a meeting place and time before bringing ten days across Highlands, seas and four extraordinary island worlds to an end.
